GTHI embarked on the 7th edition of mama put empowerment program with the theme “Empowering Local Food Vendors/Mama put to the use of LPG as the most Efficient Source of Energy”.The event which was in partnership with Discovery Links Support Initiative (DLSI) took place on the 17th of December at Chigarin Community and Youth Resource Centre, Isa Yuguda conference hall at Misau – Bauchi state.
The program started with safety tips training delivered by GTHI training and logistics officer, Mr. Anthony Ajuzie and assisted by Mrs. Hannatu Ishaya Rewa (GTHI Volunteer). In the course of the training, beneficiaries were taught how to use cooking gas to avoid explosion or household hazards.
Some of the special guests who graced the events include; Mr. Kabir Ahmad Yakasa; zonal manager NNPC Kaduna (representing General Managing Director NNPC), Mai Unguwa Dan baba; representative of District Head Chiroma, Mr. Mohammed Usman from A.Y.M Shafa Limited, Mr. Benjamin Okereke from NNPC Kaduna, Mr. Usman Yerima Imam; representative of Misau Local Government Chairman and Mr. Danladi Musa; District Police Officer Misau.
Mr. Kabiru Ahmad; zonal manager NNPC representing GMD NNPC. Made a speech addressing the current trend of firewood dependency and that NNPC will be happy to contribute its quota by ensuring the availability and affordability of LPG gas.
The drama team from GTHI displayed a short drama and afterwards, some of the Mama put beneficiaries gave testimonies of how the switch to LPG has changed there life.
A total of Hundred (100) mama put were empowered with seventy (70) 12.5kg and thirty (30) 6.5kg.
