FEDERAL GOVERNMENT COLLEGE SOKOTO CONVERTS TO THE USE OF COOKING GAS

The kitchen department of the Federal Government College (FGC) Sokoto has been converted from the use of firewood to a cleaner energy source –Cooking Gas.

The conversion which took place during a one-day training workshop organised for the school’s kitchen staff on safe handling of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by Gas to Health Initiative featured LPG safe handling demonstrations as well as installation of LPG cooking gadgets in the school’s kitchen.

The project which was sponsored by FGC old students association of 1985 set in partnership with Gas to Health Initiative was a huge success as six filled 50kg LPG cylinders, six industrial double burners and accessories were donated to the school management.

A representative of the organisers of the project, Mr Wale Olaoye stated that the initiative was carried out to ameliorate the negative health and environmental consequences arising from cooking with firewood and other unhealthy fuels.

The Principal of the Federal Government College (FGC) Sokoto, Alhaji L.M Malikawa expressed his profound gratitude to the organisers of the project for their proactive action in providing the school with a cleaner source of energy.
