On the 4th of August, 2018 Gas to Health Initiative continued her 4th edition of Mama put empowerment program where (93) Mama Puts were empowered with complete LP Gas accessories.
The empowerment program started with an opening prayer by Engr. Betty Ugona. Afterwards she gave a speech about GTHI and addressed the women on the importance of using a clean, efficient and reliable source of energy for cooking. She shared her life experience of how she fetched firewood to help her mother cook before going to school and when she gets to school, her fellow student will run away from her due to the stench of firewood. Ever since then, she vowed that if God blesses her, she will help all local food vendors with the most efficient source of energy (cooking gas).
She urged the women to extend an act of kindness to others as they are being empowered and she thanked her husband Dr. Chudy Ugona for being her source of encouragement on her journey to empowering Mama Put.
Following the speech was the lecture on safety tips where the beneficiaries were taught the proper use of cooking gas to avoid any mishap. In the cause of the safety tip lecture, a demonstration was made to showcase the following: how to properly fix regulator to cylinder; how to regulate the burner to get the blue flame before cooking; how to detect gas leakage; when to change hose and valve; how to on and off gas cylinder.
After the safety tips, cylinder distribution commenced and the beneficiaries went home with hearts full of gratitude for the positive impact made in their lives and equally thanked Gas to Health Initiative.
